چکیده

Wf' address the problem of intelligent sensing in this work. In particular, we use discrete event dynamic systems (DEDS) to guide the sensing of mechanical parts for industrial inspection and reverse engineering. lThis work was supported by ARPA under AHO grant number DAAH04-93-G-0420, DARPA grant N00014-91-J412:3, NSF grant CDA 9024721, and a University of Utah Research Committee grant. Recent Developments in Discrete Event Systems

This article is a brief exposure of the process approach to a newly emerging area called "discrete event systems" in control theory and summarizes some of the recent developments in this area. Discrete event systems is an area of research that is developing within the interstices of computer, control and communication sciences. The basic direction of research addresses issues in the analysis an...

Active Inspection and Reverse Engineering

We propose a new design for inspection and reverse engineering environments In particular we investigate the use of discrete event dynamic systems DEDS to guide and control the active exploration and sensing of mechanical parts for industrial inspection and reverse engineering We introduce dynamic recursive nite state machines DRFSM as a new DEDS tool for utilizing the recursive nature of the m...

Partial Observation in Distributed Supervisory Control of Discrete-Event Systems

Distributed supervisory control is a method to synthesize local controllers in discrete-eventsystems with a systematic observation of the plant. Some works were reported on extending this methodby which local controllers are constructed so that observation properties are preserved from monolithic todistributed supervisory control, in an up-down approach. In this paper, we find circumstances in ...

A Dynamic Framework for Intelligent Inspection

CAD Computer Aided Design typically involves the design manufacture and inspection of a me chanical part The problem of reverse engineering is to take an existing mechanical part as the point of departure and to inspect or produce a design and perhaps a manufacturing process for the part We propose to explore the feasibility of a new approach to inspection and reverse engineering applications I...
